Artists like Normani, SZA, Teyana Taylor, and Tinashe would have blended with Aaliyah so well. https://t.co/xlHggw2BCr

A Pop Sugar article written by Naledi Ushe was published yesterday which criticized the posthumous Aaliyah album (to be released laster this month) for being riddled with toxic men and seemingly excluding the women who were collaborators with Aaliyah (like Missy Elliot) or who were directly inspired by her legacy (like Normani, H.E.R., SZA, and Tinashe). Although an official tracklist has not been released, of the announced features - there are NO women mentioned at this time.

The article also touches on how exploitative the idea of a posthumous album is to begin with, but the fact that it consists of ONLY male features really drives home how men continue to exploit women for their own gain - and particularly, a woman who has been exploited by terrible men her entire career.

"Chris Brown, Drake, and Future are on Unstoppable, and while the trio may sound nice in conjunction with Aaliyah, they feel gross. The Weeknd, Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, and Timbaland are also on the album; The Weeknd's feature has already been met with production-quality backlash, but the latter three make sense to me. Only time will tell."
