Should be interesting. I’m working at a tech “startup” right now. I will never work in tech again after this, not only is it a mess internally, run by a bunch of young dudes with massive egos, it’s totally soulless and morally bankrupt. Before this, I was at ad agencies for the entirety of my career, if that tells you anything.

I thought finsta meant fake Instagram account? How does a finsta have a start up?

I'm so sorry for you. Young bros are the worst and start ups the worst, and combining the two is awful.

I love when people ask if you can go to HR, like it's a real department that can actually do anything of worth.

I worked at a tech startup for a little over a year and it suuuuucked. It was so bad it was featured on an episode of CBC Marketplace. Super corrupt and the people in charge just didn't give a fuck at all.

Start-ups are really miserable places to work. I don't regret my time at one, because it jump-started my career and forged me in some unnecessary fires, but I would *never* do it again.

Looking for a totally aligned, agile, bootstrapped, synchronized, circle-backed, synergistic, holistic, ROCKSTAR to join our economy-to-scale accelerated incubating venture-backed b2c startup that saves bees (in theory) by mining DoorDash NFTs!

I have never been expected to chug more kool-aid than I did at a start up.

I worked at a startup that claimed it was a tech company (it isn’t) and it was literally the worst job I’ve ever had. The company propaganda they used to shut down any unhappiness from the staff. Nightmare.

Omg I feel this so much. Been working at ad agencies the majority of my career too. Went publisher slide for a short time, but went back to agency side cuz that last job was a shit show with similar things you mentioned . Idk how to get out of the cycle tbh. No one seems to want to consider me for anything else, no matter how much I highlight my crossover skills.

I used to be a graphic designer, I worked for a lot of ad agencies, startups and the like, it was awful. After two burnouts in 6 months, I quit my job and went back to school to get a degree as a museum conservation technician. I graduated just as the pandemic started so getting work was really difficult at first but it’s honestly the best decision i’ve ever made. I don’t think I can ever work in that field again, like you said it’s soulless. Museums is a tough field too don’t get me wrong, but at the end of the day I know I’m doing important work that will last for decades, as opposed to just selling useless shit to people when I was working in marketing lmao.
