lol I can see it being a norm in the entertainment where looks are constantly being mentioned. Add-in the social media aspect of always needed to look filter-ready.
I always know exactly what my mom and sister weigh. Anytime they go up or down 5 pounds it’s announced. My sister is really trying to break the habit and gets mad about it because she has a daughter, but it’s hard. Even if families like mine that don’t look weight obsessed, it’s pretty common. My friends have never been that way, thank god, but family? Yes, very much.
I also have one woman I work with who doesn’t announce her weight but regularly talks about how little she eats, but everyone just rolls their eyes at her and gets on with the day.
