Grimes comes out in defense of nuclear power ☢️

The pop star appeared on the Twitter account of nuclear power influencer Isabelle Boemeke to talk about the closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.
“Diablo Canyon is California’s last nuclear power plant and makes enough electricity for 3 million people,” Grimes said. “This will push the state backwards in its goal to be 100% reliant on clean energy.”
Diablo Canyon is California’s last nuclear power plant, commissioned in 1985, provides 10% of the state’s power. It sits in an area prone to earthquakes. After the Fukushima disaster, concern grew about a natural catastrophe causing a similar nuclear nightmare on California.
Activists are trying to save Diablo Canyon, saying that it would be impossible for California to meet its clean energy goals without the plant.
Boemeke uses her platform to save the plant. “Grimes is my friend… Diablo Canyon has been my area of focus for the past year and a half. Shutting it down goes directly against the stated goals of getting to 100% clean electricity by 2045.”
