Jessica Chastain Defends Jeremy Strong for Some Reason

Dec 08, 2021 12:35

Ive known Jeremy Strong for 20yrs & worked with him on 2 films. Hes a lovely person. Very inspiring & passionate about his work. The profile that came out on him was incredibly one sided. Don’t believe everything you read folks. Snark sells but maybe its time we move beyond it.

Don’t believe all the direct quotes you read from the subject of the piece and all his costars, folks!!!

the wealth of quotes and research that went into that piece was so damning omg the writer put in EFFORT (i think he said it took 6 months to compile) to ruin this man. the fact he dropped he knew Strong from school was like him letting the reader know this was a personal attack long coming lmao

no real person was involved in the making of this interview, so it doesn't count!

Jessica Chastain has been honestly the biggest example of social media ruining actors for me. Like she doesn't seem full on evil (probably, I'm willing to take that back), but she's just... insufferable.

The fan cam thing on Twitter is soooo bizarre to me lol. But I guess it’s equivalent to how my generation made LJ icons and stuff in the early 00s.

Yeah. She’s just out of touch and oblivious and seemingly unwilling to listen

I read the piece and idk where they’re getting the impression the writer was out to get Strong lol. it was a pretty straight forward profile from the New Yorker, comparable to the one they put out about Bill Hader around Barry season 2. the difference is…Bill Hader is likable lol

yeah I mean the article’s hook was on Strong’s choice of acting style and that is obviously what he wants people to know about him (every article written about Successions mentions Strong’s ~method~ adjacent style whenever they talk about Kendall). the fact is that style is unbearable to a lot of people and isn’t the fault of a writer who wasn’t “out to get him”

I thought it was a really good, positive profile. I think its obvious Jessica didn't read past the title, which with all due respect is click-baity, especially seeing as the author and scott literally talk about how it is a black comedy and the fact they play it seriously adds to that.
