Not a vendetta, really, but homophobia, and a general distaste for arena rock and the prog rock part of their roots amongst critics. Rush is similarly all noms, no wins.
It's funny, because one of the major criticisms of arena rock is that it's manufactured and corporate, but they got 0 Grammys out of it.
Wait wait wait The Beach Boys? I get some of the other artists being excluded for being too *subversive* or political, or difficult to categorise or just, you know, racism, but The Beach Boys?

Because their musical heros and peers on their level of success have them. This is not hard to figure out. Performing artists and creatives have egos and for artists at this level, hyper ambition and competitiveness. A Grammy is like getting a number one on the charts or a sold out stadium tour. It says you are at the very top. You don't care but they really do.

Why would anyone want to win a grammy unless they were trying for an EGOT (which is meaningless in and of itself....)
