Sam Asghari, Britney Spears' fiancé, profiled in The New York Times

Sam Asghari, the 27-year-old model and personal trainer perhaps best known to the public as Britney Spears' fiancé, is the subject of a new (brief, slightly bizarre) profile in The New York Times by Caity Weaver.

• Described as "highly polite, handsome and friendly," Asghari is noted to have "declined to acknowledge, by name or even oblique reference" Spears as a condition of granting an interview.

• Asghari moved to California from Tehran, Iran at age 12 to live with his father, Michael, who had emigrated seven years earlier. Despite leaving behind his mother and three sisters for a country whose language he did not speak, he described the move as "easy"-he is notably "loath to express dissatisfaction of any kind, about anything."

• Despite mainly playing bit roles since 2019, Asghari considers acting his full-time job, referring to personal training-by way of a $9/week subscription program-as his "waiter job" until he gets his big break. (Weaver notes that many elements of the program, including images illustrating meal recipes, can be traced to other sources via reverse image search.)

• Asghari's "creative director," a man called Maxi, is described as "garrulous," "speaking at the speed of ice cubes being blended into iced coffee," and frequently interrupts the interview to (among other things) "suggest answers to various questions to Mr. Asghari" and reapply light makeup to his face. At times, Maxi appears to be at odds with Asghari's publicist, and infatuated with Asghari.

It's been a big year for Britney Spears, and he's been by her side the whole time. Meet Sam Asghari, her fiancé. https://t.co/7xls6GlVWN
