Bom dia! It's the Formula 1 Heineken Grande Prêmio de São Paulo & The Gorls Are Fighting! 🏎 🏆 🇧🇷

Nov 14, 2021 09:30

This race is already giving everything happens so much. How do I say that in Portuguese?

[Not now Nikita!]
OP's Chaotic Regular Qualifying Notes

- During practice because of colder weather on track, tyres just couldn’t get the grip. Ideal tyre temp is around 100F/ 38C
- Only the soft tyres can be used in this qualifying. These results will set the grid for sprint qualifying.
- Sir Lewis has taken a new ICE during the weekend which will result in a five place grid penalty on Sunday’s race. This result is crucial as Lewis cannot risk another DNF to stay in WDC contention
- In Q1. Ocon and Gasly both pulled off hot laps, both coming in the top ten and with Gasly going third fastest.
- For a brief second Stroll (Aston Martin) looked like he placed in the top 15 but both McLarens ended up placing + plus Ocon’s second hot lap, resulted in Stroll being eliminated.
- In Q2, Hamilton exceeded track limits, having his lap time deleted
- In Q3, Verstappens tyres overheated, resulting in him coming in early for a tyre change which loses him a lot of time
- It’s a Merc/RB 1-2-1-2 with Gasly in 5th. This underrated king gets like no coverage. He exists Sky Sports, he exists!
- Mazepin cried a bit. Like I’m not kidding - for a millisecond, I felt for him, he was actually putting on a decent lap and was then forced to slow down, he even did well controlling the car but did lock up at the conclusion of his lap, not good as no one was impeding for him to lock up nor was he on a turn for him to lock up

[UPDATE! All hell broke loose and oh yeah, Happy Birthday, Lando!]
- During Practice 2, we learn that Hamilton may be disqualified from qualifying
- Apparently Max is being a lil’ snitch and looked and touched at the Mercedes car in parc fermme (after results, the cars go parc fermme and only a few things can be repaired, but before sprint qualifying weekends, no changes can be made unless there’s damage which must be approved by the FIA)
- Mercedes is saying by Verstappen’s hand touching the car, Lewis wing was damaged which sounds like a load of cavallo crap. Turns out it was, Merc never claimed this, but Red Bully Helmut Marko said it. But here’s why Merc has a problem. Remember that RB/Merc rear wing-front wing battle from earlier this season, well since it's a piece of equipment in contention, the FIA had to do something about it.
- Soooooo there's a technical regulation that states that the rear wings to enable DRS cannot exceed 85 mm (anything bigger gives cars a much greater speed advantage), turns out Hamilton's Rear (hehe) did prompting the FIA to confiscate the part to inspect it during practice so for a time Lewis couldn't complete a lap. He was able to use a spare. Well he and Merc failed the test resulting in him going fastest in Regular Qualifying but then being sent to the back of the grid for the sprint qualifying (also remember he has a five place grid penalty anyway).
- There’s an alarm at the circuit that sounds like a vuvuzela

[So ummm… Otmar Szafnauer, Team Principal of Aston Martin May or May Not Be Leaving (He Totally is)]

- He says he’s got no intentions of leaving the team
- The rumor is that Alpine has poached him after their current racing director, Davide Brivio
- Some background, Brivio has a had a very successful tenure as the team principal for Yamaha and Suzuki’s Moto GP teams leading them to a couple of championships. When he joined Alpine, there’s no role of team principal, instead Brivio split that duty the Silver Fox of the Grid, Marcin Budkowksi
- Suzuki has not found a suitable replacement since he’s left as this season’s MotoGP Championship leaders were from Yamaha and Ducati and never was in contention to win the title despite winning it in 2020, so the team is feeling his absence
- Wouldn’t blame him for going back, he’s gotten championships for multiple teams, knows the field better, F1 is a totally new world for him
- OP misses Cyril
- Szafnauer is a whiny, but incredibly experienced team principal having been with Jaguar, Honda, then Force India-Racing Point-Aston Martin so it will suck to see him go
- rumor is that he didn't see eye to eye with Lawrence and didn't appreciate Checo being fired without a heads up. You know Otmar wanted that Checo-Vettel pairing and now I want it too. Lance you have the best helmets, but like...
- and

so fucking cheeky

[Toto Wolff versus Fernando Alonso]

My money's on Nefarious Eyebrow Bae Alonso

- he hasn't yet to responded to Toto's remarks but you know he will
- before Daniel Ricciardo, the F1 Job Hopper was Fernando Alonso who won two world titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006
- Wolff told the fucking Daily Mail: There are examples, even now, of people who went for the money rather than the car.
- “Fernando Alonso is without doubt one of the best Formula 1 drivers to have raced, ever. It is disappointing for the sport he hasn’t got more than two titles to his name... But it’s about knowing you’re part of the solar system, you’re not the sun... Some drivers are ill-advised. They get in the media spotlight and they start to believe they are the sun. And you are not. None of us are. We are all satellites, we are the planets that rotate."
- that's big from someone who inherited an already built team but I digress
