ehhh by insisting its a dark comedy makes me feel like it's going to fall flat?

I'm hesitant with these family thriller movies lol Knives Out was okay and Ready or Not could've been better.

Okay, this is how I feel about both Knives Out and Ready or Not, but everyone else RAVES about those movies to the point that I feel dumb for not loving them. 😂

IMO it’s because there’s been so little content released lately that’s not based on an existing movie/tv/comic book/board game/freshman year required reading list/toilet paper commercial that the bar for new material is underground

You make a very good point. I definitely want more original content, so I guess I have to realize that not all of it will be my cup of tea, but it’s still better than yet another reboot.

Ready or Not would have been sooo much more powerful if the main character weren't the epitome of a conventionally attractive cishet white lady. Replace Samara Weaving with Kirby Howell-Baptiste or even Sara Ramirez and then we'd be doing something.

hmm i think i disagree, the satire on ready or not relies on the main character's disbelief that people would treat her this way.
