what great artists have we lost? who has actually had serious repercussions from this? and why do actors insist they are artists?

Right? The world isn't a poorer place because Shia LaBeouf can't act in a blockbuster anymore.

Yep! Where are the droves of men yelling about “censoring,” “the first amendment,” or “cancel culture” then?

Honestly, in the case of Johnny Depp, his addictions ruined his career; in the case of Shia LaBouef, his anger ruined his career; and in the case of Armie Hammer, he never really had a career.

Seriously, Mel Gibson has like a dozen projects in production and he has gone on racist, Antisemitic rants and knocked out his wife's teeth. Depp and Shia having to do a low budget films for a few years instead of signing onto a Marvel or Star Wars franchise is not a fucking book burning.

Actors are artists….

But to your other questions, yeah exactly. Even if they are great artists, it doesn’t matter how great they are if they have committed harm. They should face some sort of consequence like everyone else.

Also what about all the great art we're missing out due to victims quitting the industry after trauma or after seeing their abusers not getting accountability? When it comes to hypothetical art why is it never about them?

like ray fisher says, accountability > entertainment
