JC Chasez should have the career trajectory this mayo in the woods bridge troll mediocre-white-man stumbled his way into

Wait, why didn't he?

I saw something on YouTube about this. Apparently, the record company was really pushing for JT.

Probably looks- based decisions?

I don't think they mentioned his looks. This is the video I watched.

Regardless of his looks, his singing voice wasn't nasally and whiny. That alone should've qualified him to have a better solo career.

Because he released back to back "Look at what a perv I am" songs that got tons of support from MTV but turned his old group's fanbase off. He had every advantage but the music and image he was putting out didn't connect.

The singles were selected by his label and released over a year apart. The second one was released months after Jive Records stopped pretending to promote his album, so it didn't make as much of an impact as people think it did now. I think they are fun and hilarious (and were written primarily as a joke), but the general public saw him as a serious balladeer. JC actually pushed for "Build My World" (a really beautiful ballad) to be the second single, but his label vetoed it.

I know everyone hates him now but people LOVED Justin back then. He was the fan favorite and he teamed with Pharrell and Timbaland for his debut album so he had a lot of bops.

It’s complicated, but probably sums up as the label didn’t know what to do with him and when ( ... )

Justin was also trying to emulate MJ's voice which helped him collect scraps that didn't make it onto the Invincible album

A: The record company was pushing JT but B: and more importantly because of JT's little stunt JC was dropped from the Pro-Bowl the day before he was supposed to perform songs from his debut solo album because of his association with Justin and then basically got screwed on the promo for his debut.

The revisionist history on this site is out of control. JC was terrible. His solo music was dated. He had no charisma outside the band. Lance Bass had a more interesting career trajectory. Fading into obscurity with Tara Reid is what JC deserved.
