The only ones I have enjoyed were Hairspray and Grease. The rest were trash. I was especially disappointed with the Peter Pan one because I grew up watching the Mary Martin version

I was absolutely obsessed with the Mary Martin version growing up and PEter Pan Live one was sooo disappointing to me, because honestly, the build-up made it seem like it was going to work. They brought in a Native American consultant to rework material, they hired the daughter of the original songwriter to write and rework in new + unused material (like bringing back the cut song "When I Went Home") and everyone seemed to have great love + respect for the material. Then the actual show just... eeeesh.

I still think if they had let Christopher Borle be Hook instead of Walken, the show might have been able to lift itself up.

I honestly had high hopes for Christopher Walken but maybe that was my fault 😭

He seemed fine (if polarizing) in the promos and lead-up material at least in terms of "he's going to give a Walken-ized performance as Hook, this is going to be quirky." He just totally bombed at the live show and had zero energy, missed lines, etc.

Exactly! I think that’s why my hopes were high, and because I’ve just always loved him and he has done a decent amount of live theater

I watched Peter Pan live drunk and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

I'll never forget how during commercial break they cut back to Christopher Walken sustaining that one note. My soul left my body.

I think about that note so often

I actually really liked the Jesus Christ Superstar one too except for John Legend's rendition of Gethsemane lol

I think the JCS is pretty well done (that shot of the cross towards the end, I almost get chills just thinking about how effective it was) and I loved the studio recording of his Gethsemane, but then during the live he couldn't match it!

The only reason I can't rewatch JCS much is the arena audience screaming and WOoooo!!!-ing all the time. Someone who was there said they had people walking around telling them when to do it, so it's not their fault, but boy does it ruin a lot of beautiful moments.

Oh yes. I caught snippets of this one and it’s not my favorite show so I’m probably a bad judge of it hah. My mother-in-law liked it a lot, just wasn’t a huge fan of John’s casting (and she loves John in general)

I loved JCS. John wasn't all there vocally but the way they staged it, especially the ending, and the other performances were all spectacular.

It felt like the producers/directors had an idea about what it's identity should be rather than just copying a more famous movie or stage show and that's why it was so successful.

I really liked The Wiz! The whole cast was great.
