The series is set five years after Vader's death so its unclear how this would work (maybe as a Force ghost?)

Well you know, the series has already established that you can live through being electrocuted, thrown down a giant shaft and then blown up, so anything is possible.

This is one of my favorite videos on the internet and it's the only explanation I subscribe to.

Though someone did tell me the whole thing was apparently explained with clones and I think that's just stupid. Let Palpatine use the force to heal his broken body!
