I would be excited for this if it weren’t rob zombie. He seems like a cool dude but I hate his filmmaking aesthetic and he needs to stop casting his wife

mte. I very strongly dislike his whole...schtick. I joked with my friend when they announced this that he's gonna make 1313 Mockingbird Lane a Spooky Trailer Park (tm) or something. Honestly pleasantly surprised that he didn't lmao.

but yeah, whenever he's interviewed for horror movie documentaries like History of Horror it's very clear that he has a lot of love for the genre and he's very knowledgeable about it. I can appreciate that from him.

His genuine love and enthusiasm for horror is why I have trouble hating his work the way I want to, lol.

He has a very adolescent approach, very "OOOoOooOOOh I'm SO EDGY, look at all the profanity and sex and additional profanity, aren't you SHOCKED by how SHOCKING I am?!?!" Like, we all (in the metal and horror fanbases) went through the edgelord phase... when we were like 14. It's not shocking, you're just being a try-hard (or extra or whatever they say now, get off my lawn).

But he's not doing it for money or clout or even respect, he genuinely loves the genre and the projects he takes on and does what he feels like is his best work -- and I can't fault that when it's so hard to have anything in the genre (that I too love so much) *not* abused for money, y'know?

His choice in album titles, though... That I can hate. Love the music, but those damn titles!

I tried to watch his Halloween and I had to turn it off. There was so much sexual assault in it, I am so shocked that people loved it.

Awful. Terrible. This is only for Rob Zombie fans (which couldn't make his last movie recoup it's losses and won't with this) and poor boomers who queue this up not knowing it's a Rob Zombie production lmao

I've seen some people say that since he's a Munsters fan, he'll treat this with respect and he won't. He said he'd treat Halloween with respect and we saw how that went. If anything, him saying he's a huge fan makes this worse because it's just a vanity project excuse to get his wife in Lily cosplay.

“ which couldn't make his last movie recoup it's losses and won't with this”

If you’re referring to 3 From Hell, you’re completely misrepresenting how these releases actually work. By all standards it was a success and did better than the studio anticipated.

Oh I actually didn't even know that one existed, I was talking about 31 which was the last one I was aware of but considering there's no marketing budget for his movies, you at least don't have to factor that in. Although the movie you're talking about still made a million dollars less than it cost according to Wikipedia and I doubt it's making that back in physical copies but I could be wrong.

The same thing that happened with '3 From Hell' applies to '31'. You're talking about how well it did during the Fathom Events screenings which were never what their success was going to be measured by. The theatrical screenings (which were for only three days) were just there to get an extra boost from the fans who wanted to see it in theaters. The studios were largely banking on how it would do from VOD and other formats.

I loved watching reruns of this as a kid. Not really feeling his wife as Lily, though.
