as an ontd geriatric, it's interesting to watch this and see what was going on behind the scenes. i remember when this happened,, but didn't follow the case in detail.. they've gotten so many of the little details (90s stuff, diet culture, media, etc) right.
I know. The 90s vibe of it is perfect. I'm not American so I don't remember in how much details I followed the whole trial beyond what I read in the newspaper every morning. I do remember talk shows/comedies having relentless Monica Lewinsky jokes. Not that I ever liked or watched Leno much, but he in particular was disgusting about it and wouldn't stop. (Much like he kept going to the OJ Simpson jokes in a really crass way). I remember thinking that an affair was certainly not worth the scrutiny it was under, but I definitely don't think I realized the screwed-up power dynamics. I never mocked her much (not my speed), but I bought into the narrative that she brought this upon herself by having an affair with Clinton. I definitely didn't realize how she got bullied by a bunch of grown men who just wanted to destroy Clinton any way they could.
It's good, it doesn't have as much of the Murphyness that you may not like. Mostly because it is contained to actual history and isn't Ryan Murphy just trying to throw multiple kitchen sinks into every episode.
From what I understand, it is very true to life. I can't remember where I heard/read this but Monica said she was suicidal for a while and she just couldn't be alone. She would leave the door to the bathroom open, and her mom would always be nearby. :(

The ending where the mother lets everything that has happened hit her was tragic to watch.
