Legendary dragon quest composer, Sugiyama Koichi, dies

Confirmation was announced today that famed video game composer for the dragon quest series, Sugiyama Koichi, passed away on September 30 at 90 years old from septic shock.

Excelling in his field as orchestrator, director and composer, he was one of the precursors in using a full orchestra to create music for video games, often cited as inspiration for video game composers. He, along with Uematsu Nobuo (from the final fantasy series), are considered among the biggest figures on the music for video games area.
