Some celebrities manage to accidentally cancel themselves. Take Katie Couric. She is publishing a new memoir called Going There, and several excerpts reveal that she is not exactly the sunny, warm person her public image that she tried to cultivate.

  • She refused to stick up for women at work because she saw them as a threat, especially Deborah Norville and Ashleigh Banfield.

  • In fact, she was actively unwelcoming to other women so she could "protect my turf."

  • When Diane Sawyer landed an exclusive that Katie wanted, she said, "I wonder who she had to blow to get that.”

  • According to her, powerful men in the 1990s “couldn’t help themselves from coming on to their new colleagues.”

  • She hates Martha Stewart because she read a snarky poem about Martha at an event and Martha didn't find it funny. Katie writes, "some healthy humbling (prison will do that . . .) to develop a sense of humor."

  • She met Prince Harry at a polo match in Brazil during his "wild-oats sowing phase." She writes, “a strong aroma of alcohol and cigarettes seemed to ooze from [his] every pore” of his body.

  • She says that because she's famous people just looooved meeting her: “In virtually every room I entered . . . they were all atwitter just to meet me.”

  • She attended a lavish party at Jeffrey Epstein's place in 2010, after Epstein was convicted of procuring a child for prostitution. Prince Andrew was there, too. She writes, "I couldn’t imagine what Epstein and Andrew were up to, apart from trying to cultivate friends in the media." You know, like HER.

  • When she left broadcast TV for CNN, she had a $15 million salary and gave her office a glamorous makeover, which alienated the staff. However, she claims she suffered "internal sabotage." She 'thought we'd be greeted as liberators; instead we got an insurgency'.

  • When her therapist asked her if it had ever occurred to her that not everyone would like her, she replied, "Honestly I sort of hadn't."

  • She made fun of Ann Curry at a roast held for Matt Lauer. She was surprised that Ann Curry, who was sitting in the audience, looked so hurt.

  • A female producer told her she had been sexually harassed by Matt Lauer and Katie didn't do shit. Ann Curry, however, reported another woman's complaint immediately.

  • At NBC, the men had a secret office called "The Bunker" where they would go to have sex with women. “The general rule at the time was, ‘It’s none of your business. A don’t-ask-don’t-tell culture where anything goes, and everything did.”

  • On Matt Lauer's victims: “Why didn’t these women just tell Matt to take a hike?”

  • Finally, after Matt Lauer was fired, she reached out to him and texted him to say, "I love and care for you deeply. I am here." She defends him as "a decent man."

Remember, she's the one who told Taylor Swift, "There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women.
