One of the most intense episodes of television I’ve ever watched is a Rockford Files episode titled Return of the Black Shadow, which is about how Rockford gets revenge on a motorcycle gang that drives him and a friend’s sister off the road and kidnaps the sister for… not good stuff. At all. Revenge is had but the ending is rough since the woman is traumatized and catatonic at episode’s end. This was playing on my tv a few years ago as background noise when I was pushing my way through undergrad and I found myself having to stop what I was doing and basically have a good cry when it was done.
