I hated every minute of this movie when I saw it and never understood what was supposed to be 'good' about it and why everybody seemed to love it.

Absolutely agreed. The music was mediocre and I could not for the life of me understand why the film was focused on the bland, pathetic dipshit who neglected his family and was a rl monster and not the INFINITELY more interesting performers that he recruited.
