kate winslet was close to awful in mare and no one can convince me otherwise. the show also let her down with the by the numbers plot, character and setting.

Plus Kate’s attempt at a Philly accent just reminds me of John Travolta trying to do a Baltimore accent in Hairspray

i watched it months after as well and had the same reaction. it felt like a show that might have been interesting in 2005? but really we've seen every beat of this story before.

I did not enjoy her acting at all.

I don’t think Kate was bad, and I enjoyed the show for the potboiler it was. But omg (I’ve said this before on here), it was almost a parody of all Scandinavian crime shows. I couldn’t take it seriously after a certain point. They just threw absolutely everything at it to make it the most grim, depressing thing ever, thereby totally missing the mark when it came to actually creating a creepy atmosphere.
