Is The Crown THAT good? I mean if you don't give a shit either way about the royal family, is it anything special?

i think it's consistently fine, and sometimes it achieves greatness. but the best thing about it is that it pisses off the real royal family lmao. prince charles must hate the fact that the actor playing him won the emmy

The fact that The Crown ruined 20 years worth of PR of him and Camilla... I ain't even mad tbh.

it's posh and white. it gives viewers the satisfaction of being smug about the royal family being shitty.

It's exactly what you expect a prestige show about the royal family to be. High production values, good to great acting and directing, paint-by-the-numbers writing.

the acting & production design (idk anything about tv, I assume that encompasses costumes/sets etc idk but I also mean ATMOSPHERE ya know) is phenomenal. I would not say the writing is too terribly strong - I think if you're not intrigued by the general premise then it can be kinda boring

This is how I feel as well. There is money there and you see it on screen both in terms of the production but also in terms of hiring great actors. But the writing can be very basic and very heavy handed on the theme of the episode.

I love the show (hate the royal family) and Olivia and Gillian shouldn’t have won. I adore Olivia, but Claire Foy was better because the show was at its best at the start.

The actors do a great job, but in terms of the show itself I think it's only done as well as it has because of a lack of competition.

It’s the equivalent of a posh British accent. You think it is more important and sophisticated than it actually is when rly naw.

Fits.

I personnally love it and find the quality consistent which is rare for a serie.

I struggled through the first season and don't understand the love for it but I've also had to deal with posh, entitled pricks in my real life so that holds no appeal for me whatsoever.
