agreed, it's been hard to get back into them since then. On the fandom side, it was jarring especially because the fandom essentially destroyed Woojin over allegations that have since been proven false, but with Hyunjin, who self-admitted his faults and faced suspension over it, it's UWU HE WAS JUST A BB, THIS IS INJUSTICE, JYP SUCKS. I like stanning but stanning alongside children is exhausting!
The only reason I checked out Stray Kids in the first place was because of all the Youtube videos making Woojin look like he bullys his own members and that the members hate him. but when real bullying accusations come out about Hyunjin bully GIRLS the Fandom, company, and the group ignores it and gives full support. Such Bullshit
ah thanks for the clarification! I admit I tuned a lot of it out at the time since the fandom was being too much. And fully agree that while some younger bullies actions are borne of ignorance, it doesn't minimize the impact it has on victims of that bullying and that he is in an industry where he (and his crazy fans) have to accept that surprise! actions have consequences
were the woojin allegations really proven false? it was some serious stuff, and he got kicked out the group. I figured at least some of that would be true in order for this to happen.
The sexual abuse ones were. I don't know all the details off the top of my head and I know translated sources are never 100%, but the police were made aware, the allegations debunked and the anon accounts have since deleted.
The bullying accusations (from fans) were never formally addressed, but I think everyone knows there were never much ground to these anyway.
I do agree thought that JYP, Stray Kids and him continuing to be really vague about his departure continues to be strange, so idk, maybe something will come out in the future? At the very least, when he left, the statement released by JYP was cordial and wished him well, which seems to indicate they don't see scandal from their end.
Just to chime in, the statement jype put out is pretty much identical to the one they put out when they kicked out a day6 member for dating one of their fans and telling her about their schedules, so it’s not really an indicator of anything. there’s rumors as to why woojin left/was let go, and they line up with how chan addressed him in the immediate aftermath (and how jype erased him from the group so quickly to the point where the group had to reshoot an mv) but it’s nothing concrete.
ooh thanks for context. i do continue to wonder and the fact that no one from all sides (especially Woojin himself) hasn't given a concrete reason is weird. I'll continue to cautiously stan his music till then.
this! i refuse to listen to give them another chance for this exact reason (my previous reason was despite them trying new stuff all their songs end up sounding the same) and the fact their fans INSIST it didnt happen when he admitted to it?? and if it wasnt true they wouldn't have had him hide away for MONTHS AND MONTHS losing all that money if they werent sure more would come out and needed time to quietn it all down on the down low
