Okay, ONTD detectives, it's time to investigate an unsolved mystery!

In Mindy Kaling's essay Big Shot, she says that in 2016 she spent the holidays with her family in Honolulu. While having Christmas dinner at Duke's in Waikiki, the waiter told her that another celebrity was having dinner at the same restaurant.

Adam Sandler is the only one who fits all the clues. Lots of terrible movies with lowbrow mainstream appeal, is old enough to be adored by Mindy (the Wedding Singer was released when she was still a teenager, and he has gotten serious critical props for a bunch of movies (Uncut Gems, Punch-Drunk Love), only to be ignored by the Oscars.

Yes and I do believe that he got distracted and forgot to thank her rather than be an intentional asshole. You can never be sure, but reports are that he's a really nice guy. People work with him over and over so that's a good sign.

His comedy films have gotten unwatchable for me but I will always have a soft spot for the 90s ones and I do think he's been snubbed for some of his dramatic work.
