Variety reports that Gabrielle Union and Taraji P. Henson will team up with Effie T. Brown and her Gamechanger Films to adapt the ‘Sorcerority’ Graphic Novel.

Union’s I’ll Have Another Productions and Henson’s TPH Entertainment will also produce the film.

The film is based on the fantasy novel by Mikhail Sebastian and George Watson.

Per Union: “Taraji and I have been looking for a project to work on together for a few years now and I’m excited to be partnering with her, TPH Productions and Gamechanger Films on this project. I’m looking forward to bringing this graphic novel to the big screen,” Union said.

“Sorcerority” is about a Black girl named Melanie, who enrolls in her late mother’s historically Black coven and university of magic. Once Melanie enrolls, she becomes apart of a mystery surrounding the history and legacy of the university.
