I thought the same thing. There was no drama when Gaga wore it at the Oscars that year.

Same and Audrey Hepburn/breakfast at Tiffany references.

That is... Interesting if that is the case.

Trust me I was watching that year. The term “blood diamond” did not come up once.

Mostly Audrey Hepburn references! Gaga even talked about the diamond during post-Oscar interviews and not one blip of controversy happened.

Because Gaga's career is over and everybody already knows she's trash.

She worked with R.Kelly and people said the allegations against him have been known for many years

Nothing turns certain type of White people in the press and public more, than when Black people eat their own.

yeah as far as i know, no backlash

Nope not anything. White people only enjoy taking down black celebrities.

However she's still showing zero sense to be the face of Tiffany while wearing that hideous thing.

The backlash is coming almost exclusively from black people though.

But the press only takes note because it's Black people criticizing a Black celeb. White celebs sashay around plantations they bought and it takes years for the press to notice or make a fuss. Beyonce shows up in an ad wearing a diamond no White celeb ever got criticism for wearing, and suddenly it's a story? Yeah. Right. Sure.

Man, I am begging you to free yourself from the shackles of caring what white people think about intra-community issues. Please read the article linked in the post and reflect on that. Gaga did not receive backlash on this topic because 1) Black people don't fuck with her like that and don't expect anything from her, 2) Beyonces is not only black but coming of an era that was supposedly pro-black, pan-africanist. Is it bad to expect more from your community members than the people who oppress us?

Ma'am I am asking that you understand that nobody gives a shit about our intracommunity issues or criticisms in a way that would affect celebs, unless the majority culture gets pleasure from highlughting it. For example we were talking about R.Kelly for AGES. That shit was KNOWN. The community was open about talking and/or criticizing him. But nothing concrete happened until Derogatis, a White journalist ran with the story. Years of aunties side-eyeing Robert meant nothing to him until it got signal-boosted by the White press. If an opinion piece hadn't been accepted by the Washngton Post, Bey and Jay would have shrugged at best and said "our bad". Maybe ( ... )
