Thandiwe Newton calls her Star Wars death: “A big mistake”

Today in "Second verse, same as the first" news, while promoting "Reminicence" (I didn't know she was in that....) Thandiwe Newton played Val, the first black woman in the mainline Star Wars visual medium with any kind of impact...and was still killed.

But that wasn't in the script! It just happened during filming.

"It’s much easier just to have me die than it is to have me fall into a vacuum of space so I can come back sometime." Though she didn't necessarily want to come back, she does recognize how Lucasfilm shortchanged the first black female Star Wars character. She would be followed by Naomi Ackie's Jannah in "The Rise of Skywalker", who, while did not die, didn't do a whole lot. Why do I like this franchise again?

She also talks about Westworld, but idk about that very much. Never saw Solo anyway.
