I think it takes stones to go after literally the biggest media conglomerate in the history of the world. Disney is second to none and their tendrils go deep. Not even a few decades ago, when a studio blackballed you, your career was OVER and they’d find other subtle ways to destroy you. She’s rich and powerful, but she’s still nothing compared to Disney and their literal army of sycophants who may also not want to hire her in case it ruins their future chances with Disney if that’s how they want to play it. This could turn her radioactive.

Do I feel “bad” for her? No. She’s more okay than I ever will be. But that doesn’t mean the ramifications of what they’ll do to her career and reputation aren’t serious or real and I do think that’s scary as fuck. Look at her costars like RDJ and Chris Evans - they’re out of the MCU but have they said anything to defend her or even something non-commital? Not a goddamn thing, and that’s probably bc fucking with Disney is not something lightly done. Fuck them anyways. Ok, she’s mad about a few million when she’s already a millionaire. So? Why should Disney keep it then? They’re a billion dollar company.

I really don’t know how more people aren’t grasping this. They’re against Scarjo because you don’t like her and she’s already rich but the they’re fine with a billion dollar corporation screwing her over and pocketing that money?? How Sway??

Not to mention every bad action she’s done, Disney has done a million times worse! Taken racist roles? How often has Disney cast white people inappropriately or passed over qualified POC? Worked with sexual predators? Which studio gave those sexual predators the job in the first place? Being greedy? Right, Disney wouldn’t be associated with that in any way…

Classic shit. An individual can be bad, yes but the harm they do can hardly be compared to the reach and harm done by huge, wealthy corporations such as Disney but I guess that’s too nebulous a concept to grasp.

It’s not just her that’s suing Disney it’s her production company as well which means Scarlett not only is/was going to miss out on residuals BUT all the way down the food chain...right down to let’s say whomever she hired to punch up her lines or her personal costumer...this is why Johansson and her whole team is forcing this case to go to trial instead of arbitration...
a case like this will set precedent for contracts dealing with streaming content for years to come. I feel like people forget that Scarlett Johansson grew up in relative poverty in government housing while on food stamps (I know this for a fact due to we were in the same social circles as children...she had a full Financial aid package to attend Her hIgh school)...

Disney is fucking over far smaller artists than Scarjo. As far as I'm concerned, Scarjo the person can go kick rocks, but the fact that she's throwing her clout into this means media outlets are paying more attention to the bigger picture of how Disney treats their artists, so I support her in this.
