We got a third Captain America movie?! I could've sworn what I watched was an Iron Man film.

It was Avengers 2.5 at best. It was definitely not a Cap film. I feel so cheated. The original plan was for it to be more along the lines of TWS which was more espionage-lead. Instead Captain America was hardly in his own film.

Yup. The emotional arc of the movie was Tony’s, not Steve’s! Ridiculous. It was practically Iron Man 4.

I honestly keep forgetting that Civil War was a Cap film and not an Avengers one. I felt like I had a good grasp on Steve's character in TFA and then found him pretty much 2D in every subsequent appearance. Just sort of flat and uninspired. Plus, for all we were told about his and Bucky's super amazing connection that transcends time and all other friendships, we weren't really shown any of that lmao. The further I get from those movies the more gripes I have tbh.

I keep forgetting it's a Cap film as well. It's so forgettable. Most Marvel films are, but Civil War was the worst imo

According to Chris Evans a lot of the Bucky and Steve scenes were cut out or shortened, which is such a shame and doesn't do them or the story justice. Losing/saving Bucky has been the entire lynchpin of the Cap trilogy and most of the scenes showcasing that in CW had to be pushed aside bc RDJ would only sign on if his role was expanded. Plus they had to shoehorn in Spiderman last minute because they suddenly got the rights from Sony.

But really I blame DC because they announced Batman Vs Superman so Marvel pivoted and scraped the planned Serpent Society storyline and decided to go with the Civil War one instead and then claimed it was the plan all along 😤

I never understood why CW was billed that way, it didn't feel like a CA movie with all the characters in it.

It feels like it was meant to be an Avenger film but they were like 'FUCK! We forgot all about writing CA3 and then just slapped Captain America on it instead of Avengers.

It's a contract thing. The main cast's deals only signed them on to a certain number of "Avengers" movies, by labelling it a Captain movie and having them simply feature it allowed them to basically make another Avengers group film without expanding their pre-set contract.

DC announced Batman Vs Superman and Marvel decided to compete. Initially both movies were slated to premiere on the same date but DC moved theirs cos they knew they couldn't compete once Marvel announced Civil War and the cast.

Way to punch down Marvel. So unnecessary

Don’t forget the half-hour commercial for Spider-Man in the middle. There was no space for Cap in that movie.
