"In regards for the finished film, Winger says, "as entertaining as [the finished film] was, you don't walk away going "Wow, those women did that." You kind of go "Is that true?"'"

Actually, I always end the film with the feeling of "wow, those women did that". It's one of my favorite movies.

I need more female sports films.

A really great scene was when a ball was hit towards a group of black women, and Geena Davis' character was like "throw it here" and the woman zinged it at her and they kind of looked at each other.

I thought it was an acknowledgment that there were black women just as talented but not allowed to join for racist reasons... kinda would be awk to have the all white league without mentioning why.

i mean yeah that's why it was in there but it was very perfunctory. they had to acknowledge it and that's all they did. i get it, the story wasn't about that, i just thought it was funny.

Exactly. They were specifically black women because they weren’t allowed in the league. Women’s baseball was allowed, as long as they were all white, no matter how talented.

That scene was amazing for the year the movie was made...
I know Davis and up till her death Marshall had been trying to get the film made about the black women’s baseball league hopefully one day soon.
And everyone in the film walked away speaking highly of madge...
And or being friends with her...
