The second half of Gossip Girl's first season will return in November with the remaining seven episodes. The midseason premiere will be a Thanksgiving episode.

Creator Joshua Safran states that there will be no cotillion storyline or appearances by the "core" five or six characters from the original this season.

[Midseason Finale Recap]Max brushed off Rafa's advances in light of last week's revolutions and Rafa decides to retaliate against the the 17 year old

• Rafa met up with one of Max's dads for drinks and sent him a photo as proof
• Max's dad states that they did not have sex, just drinks at the bar
• Rafa, back in the creepy Gossip Girl teacher gang, posts of photo of Max at the hospital waiting for Audrey to imply that he was seeking testing/treating for a STI
• Max sends Gossip Girl a video clip DM of he and Rafa having sex
• Kate and the infatuated white male teacher open the video, scream, and then notice that it was deleted - likely by Rafa
• Also - I thought Carla from Top Chef was possibly Max's mother but it appears she is the family's personal chef, I hope they are paying her well

Obie's mother is in town and Obie lies to Zoya about telling his mother that he has a new girlfriend

• Zoya ends up at dinner with Obie, Obie's mom, Aki, Audrey, Aki's mother, and Malcom McDowell
• Zoya learns that Obie has a completely different, passive personality in front of his mother to stay in her good graces

After tense conversations over Malcom McDowell's unethical tactics and his right wing media company, Audrey lets it slip to the group that Aki is not straight

Audrey's mother wakes up and reunites with her daughter, who has been rightfully worried but also very rude to the hospital staff in this post-COVID alternate universe

• As a thank you to "her two men" Max and Aki for supporting her while her mother was unconscious, Audrey presents them with a nice lamb dinner and then they proceed to have a poorly lit threesome.

Julien did not perform as expected on the PSATs and receives a lightweight warning from Luke Kirby about her uncertain future as an influencer

• She and Luna (Mone is MIA this week and likely plotting somewhere) host a pitch meeting with several companies including Sephora, Ulta, and Revlon as a way to show Luke Kirby that she is serious about her influencer position becoming a career
• A protest against Obie's family real estate business is occurring and both Julien and Zoya show up to support Obie who is naturally there
• Zoya ends up arriving later than Julien and misinterprets ~a moment~ between the two
• Sephora calls up Julien to rescind their partnership offer due to her presence at the protest
• Julien and Obie get horned up during the protest and start making out in an alleyway after running away from the cops

Malcom McDowell outs Aki on television but a calm and collected Aki takes it in stride and corrects the media in that he is not gay, but bisexual

• He calls Aki from his private plane to offer a lame apology and also orders him to stay away from Julien (we don't know if it is because of the protest or something else...)
