Ugh, that's so unfair. She lost her mom in March 2020 (not to COVID) and of course the whole insanely disproportionate Tr*mp mask

Facebook has become a literal cesspool. I never post and check it still more out of habit than anything else, but I really need to just abandon that ship. It's not a good place for mental health.

same, i only have it to keep track of events at this rate, and despite the fact i don't use it anymore i still get disgusting reactionary articles recommended to me with far-right sympathizing comment sections. years ago i would engage them but i know better now, its just not a healthy platform at all

same..i have it..but i haven't posted anything in a few months. no one has really checked on me lol..but that's fine..i'm not really in a talking mood right now. been dealing with some stuff that i don't want to talk about. i do lurk, but i had to unfollow a shit ton of people because of how horrible they've become. i pretty much check groups and brands. i really don't know how i'm going to ever socialize with some of those people ever again.

It's really bad. I had to unfollow my local newspaper because the right wingers always flood the comments with their cruel bullshit. Plus laughing reacts for anything covid related.

i think it's selection bias-- far-right nutjobs are far more likely to comment than liberals, who are generally more reason-minded. and yes this is a sweeping generalization i know lol.

you're definitely right! i actually read a study in this not too long ago, and it also mentioned how fb pages that penalize users for misinformation get less interaction vs pages that don't (so far-right pages): here

factor in how and why people unconsciously LOVE fake news, which the far right is rife with, and you just have a very loud group of individuals

Infuriating, but not surprising unfortunately. Apparently people were attacking her sister (a regular person for ffs) when she had cancer.
