I can't believe I watched this in the cinema 20 years ago. It still holds up tbh, I still know all of Principal Gupta's lines. I do think Anne was great at Mia, I can't imagine anyone else playing her.

Also sparked my teenage YA fiction obsession after I found out it was based on a book by Meg Cabot, lol i still have all her books somewhere at my parents house.

THAT WAS SANDRA OH??😱😱 I haven’t watched the movie in 20 years and I did not know her before Grey’s anatomy, I never made the connection that she was the principal of the school!

Jesus g*ddamn christ Sandra Oh could act her way thru any RomCom, TV Drama, Animated Amazon Feature, etc., win every award under the sun, and it still wouldn't be enough to recognize her star quality.

I am not embarrassed to say that I'm 35 years old and an entire shelf at my house is all Meg Cabot books.

(I re-read all of the Princess Diaries series last year)

YES. I love those. Stacy Trent is goals.

I've also read the Heather Wells series multiple times!

Heather Wells would make such a good show, it has a fun premise and they can do case of the week/her tagging along with Cooper's cases.
Like, if only someone put some effort into developing it, it could be like a female Castle and run 12546 seasons.

I still like Meg's book too, but I wasn't a big fan of her Abandon Trilogy. I've moved countries a few times so I've left all my YA books at my parents, and if shipping wasn't so damn expensive I'd LOVE to have my whole book collection with me.

Probably my least favorite series of hers is the vampire one. Abandon was just ok as well.

I love how she writes REAL women, they're all flawed and fun and wonderful and quirky. But not so QUIRKY that you cannot picture exactly what these women are like (and you probably know someone who is just like them). I also sometimes just need something to read that exerts no brain power.

exactly! you always can relate to her leads, not because they are your standard mary sues or that are a size fits all, but in their insecurities of ways, they always resemble someone you know, your an aspect of yourself, and i really love that. and she is honestly a really good writer imo!
