ONTD Original: Top 5 Billie Eilish's Non-Singles (Alt Round Pt. 1)
In celebration of Happier Than Ever's release and being ghosted by the guy I was dating, I am starting a three-part ranking from non singles belonging to Billie Eilish, Lorde & Halsey to celebrate their new albums.
Here is a list of the five best non-singles from Billie's discography including her recently released sophomore album. I chose violence.
5. 8 from When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
While making this list, I realized she released every song of her Don't Smile At Me EP as a single and almost every song from her debut album as well. This is one of the few exceptions, and although I believe we had enough singles from her debut album, it's a testament to her songwriting that this could have also been released as a single. The ukulele feels very reminiscent of her Don't Smile At Me EP and definetely different than the rest of the album's singles.
4. I Didn't Change My Number from Happier Than Ever
This is Billie being cocky and confident towards someone who might be underestimating her. The beat feels very swaggy, and gets even harder towards the end of the song, and the lyrics warn the other person not to try her before she gets "too mean." T
I'm going out on a limb to say that this feels like might be released as a future single.
3. Oxytocin from Happier Than Ever
Billie said this was a song she and her brother purposely wrote to play live, it was also the last song to be written for her sophomore album and it marks a shift in the album and perhaps a future possibility of a single?
2. I Love You from When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
The song was performed so many times during its album's era that it feels like it was a single, but it didn't even get a music video. Still, it feels like a classic Billie song and standout moment in her debut album. She has mentioned her intention to release it as a single but the tima constraints prevented her from doing so.
1. Happier Than Ever from Happier Than Ever
Despite having a music video released today, the title track of Billie's sophomore album was not released as a single, thought it perfectly could/should.
The song starts as a mellow balladish reminiscing about someone doing her dirty, only to then explodes in the second half into a full rocker anthem belting out direct truth towards that someone.
The video perfectly captures the two sides of the song and feels like a perfect representation of the album as a whole.
