Nick Wold, the lead singer of the alternative band Dreamers, has been getting into events and other celebrity type things way above his pay grade by pretending to be Ninja, a Twitch streamer who has almost 17 million followers. They're both tall white guys with shaggy blue hair, and nobody ever asks to see Nick's ID when he claims to be Ninja ( Read more... )

idk who either of them are. I'm also not sure what a 'twitch streamer' is. is that like a youtuber

It's someone who livestreams on Twitch.TV. I think Ninja streams himself playing video games but I'd rather die than watch him so idk for sure

Do people stream things other than video games on twitch? I thought it was just for video games. Shows how much I know lol

yeah, "just chatting" is far and away the largest category on twitch lmao. a lot of IRL and react content.

Lol oh I had no idea! I only heard it associated with video games. But the only twitch stream I ever watched was Hasan playing Among Us with AOC and Jagmeet Singh (a Canadian politician)

yeah they can. i think now it's becoming the place to do like just chatting streams bc i feel like it's an easier interface to use when you wanna chat with your fans. a few ppl i watch on twitch will chat for a little bit (or a long time depending lol) before either playing a video game or like drawing or making something.

Oh that’s true, it does have that chat function at the side of the screen. I didn’t know! Is there anyone you recommend who makes/draws interesting stuff?

sorry for the late reply lol but i don't have many recs bc there's only one twitch streamer that i frequently watch that does that (her name is marzzz, idr how many z's are in her name lol) & she only does it sporadically. she's also done like cooking on her channel so i think other channels do that too.

yep! there are artists (they kicked off the artist thing with a bob Ross marathon), and DJs. I've seen piano players, drum players, etc.

That’s cool! I didn’t know about this at all. Anyone you recommend?

I mostly just catch random streams so I don't have anyone I follow doggedly.

I thought this guy's set up was so cool https://www.twitch.tv/mitchbruzzese/ he has a code for the camera and the audience can pick what color they want on the drum kits (based on donations)

here's the music link https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Music
if you just want to check out what's on rn.

Like others mentioned, plus I know there's "gambling" streams like where people buy random Pokemon card packs for exorbitant amounts and open them on stream to see if they're worth anything. There's also chess streams.

Chess streaming sounds oddly relaxing lol. And I’ve heard that Pokemon cards are sometimes worth thousands, I need to go through my old stack!
