JK Rowling reacts to ‘pipebomb’ death threat on Twitter

To be fair, when you can’t get a woman sacked, arrested or dropped by her publisher, and cancelling her only made her book sales go up, there’s really only one place to go. pic.twitter.com/MsNWXhWlyc

I had a friend who was such a harry potter fan that when JKR revealed her transphobic self, she donated the equivalent cost of all the books and movie tickets (estimated) to a local trans youth charity.

We still have these huge displays at our bookstore with merch and while it does look cool ..... I can never bring myself to give her the money. I just leave it there, and from the looks of it, so does everyone else.

Same. I actually just got my HP tattoo covered up. I was already working on the start of my sleeve and it was a little below the design that was being worked on; I told my tattoo artist I regretted having it on my arm and he was all FUCK IT, LET'S THROW A DAGGER OVER IT so I let him lmao. No regrets now.

I have an HP tat, and it’s hard, I can definitely understand covering it, but mine isn’t visible and I’m not letting her take that joy I still have (although it’s definitely diminished and that pisses me off too) away from me.

I have a small deathly hallows tatoo on my ankle and feel the same. HP has been a signficant part of my life for such a long time, and my youth....

Oh yeah, I definitely don't think it's like, a requirement for someone if you feel like Rowling sucks nowadays. It's just what I felt more comfortable doing - and mine was in a super visible place (just above my elbow).

I plan on reading the books with my kids. It's still a great book series. But I already own the books, and if I end up having to replace any I'll buy them secondhand. I'll also talk to my kids about why the author has problematic viewpoints.

I understand, and yes, if mine was visible, it would likely be a different story. Yeah, the part where I don’t give her more money is kinda hard- I will definitely be tempted when the rest of the illustrated editions come out. And I’d never been to Universal, which at this point is probably a good thing because I would have spent so much money.

I also have a HP tattoo, but thankfully it's a super vague reference. HP was such a huge part of my life. I'm a little bitter

I had a friend visit and she and some of her other friends wanted to go to the HP store in NY. I didn't spend a penny but those books were honestly made for merchandising, I mean holy cow.

Same. My grandmother bought me all the books and one of my ex's got me the blu ray, but I def spent money on a video game here and there and at Universal. Bleh.

That said if you wanna get a cloak get an unofficial one online. You can get a really good quality one for a fraction of the price compared to an official one.
