- According to actress Jessica Cauffiel (Margot), one of the first endings shown to test audiences, Elle formed a potential romance with Warner's ex-fiancée Vivian Kensington, in which they were shown "in Hawaii in beach chairs, drinking margaritas and holding hands".
- Alanna Ubach (who played Serena) recalled the same ending, but the screenwriters told that they never wrote the scene. whatisthetruth.gif
- Other possible ending included Ellen kissing Emmett Richmond (Luke Wilson).
- Feedback from test audiences, however, showed that the public didn't want a romantic ending:
"We screened the movie two or three times, and every time people didn't want to end it with a kiss. They thought it wasn't a story about [Elle] getting a boyfriend, which was really cool to have people say that." (screenwriter Kirsten Smith)
Legally Blonde turns 20 today.
