• Netflix is also releasing a companion podcast to the novel, set to be released in six parts. The podcasts appear to be conversations that Robin (with Maya Hawke reprising the role) has with her favorite teacher Mr. Hauser (Sean Maher). New episodes premiere
every Tuesday • The book opens on Robin crashing prom in spring 1984, rushing to tell Tammy Thompson how she feels about her and asking her to run away with her to Europe for the summer
• The book then flashes back to fall 1983, a week before Will disappears. Robin feels disconnected and unhappy, even though she has friends and decently okay ex-hippie parents
• The book and the podcast reveal that Robin had been friends with Barb in elementary and middle school before Barb and Nancy became friends. In the podcast Robin tells Mr. Hauser that Barb was "like her" and insists that she ran away and refuses to believe that anything bad happened to her.
• There are a lot of scenes where she makes fun of Steve and Hopper. She notices Will at one point before he disappears and notes that she wants to tell him that life in Hawkins gets better, but mostly she just wishes she could tell him to run away.
• Forms a bond with one of her fellow band geeks, and starts to realize her attraction to girls particularly her crush on Tammy Thompson.
• Robin comes to terms with her sexuality over the course of the book, and connects with her english teacher Mr. Hauser. Mr. Hauser is gay but after he gets sent a photograph of himself with his boyfriend, he decides to quit his job and leave Hawkins before he is driven out.
• On prom night tries to run away to Europe, but when her plans get found out she instead crashes prom. She temporarily stops her quest when she realizes that Tammy has a boyfriend.
• The book then cuts to summer 1985 with Robin saving up money for her future adventures when her boss at Scoops Ahoy decides to hire Steve for the summer.
