I kind of want there to be a documentary on Tidal one day. I know of someone who was an intern there when they where bought by JayZ and it sounds like a mess. The original concept was to market it to like the gulf states as a luxery version of spotify (they were originally a local streaming service but were pushed out by spotify so they were looking for a new market)
And then one day Jay-Z showed up at the offices and they scrambled like crazy to change the whole product into what he wanted it to be and ended up with that insane press conference.

Wow, that's interesting. How did they feel about his changes? I feel like it would've been way more successful had it stayed with the original vision.

It was more of a friend of a friend situation so I don't know a lot of details but the staff didn't know about the Jay Z deal at all before it went through. The intern didnt care that much it was more of an experience lol but people had to scrap what they were working on and follow jays vision so i'm guessing some of the people working there where pretty stressed

Hopefully once this transaction is complete, Beyoncé’s music will be free from being Tidal exclusives and we can get some real album drops and promo 😒
