July 2, 2021 -Disney made it official last December that “Fargo” and “Legion” showrunner Noah Hawley is developing an FX television series based on the “Alien” film franchise.
-Compared to the previous films in the franchise, this series will not be set in space or on a distant planet but on earth.
-Finished writing two scripts for it that will tackle class warfare and what happens when it remains unresolved. Emphasis on wanting to feature more of a human element in the series rather than the monster aspect featured in the movies.
-Mentions that while they are influences, Ellen Ripley will not be a featured character in the series:
“It’s not a Ripley story. She’s one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don’t want to mess with it,” Hawley said of his decision not to feature the character."
"Ripley has, however, influenced Hawley’s vision for the series, which he says “on some level” is a story about inequality. “There’s that great Sigourney Weaver line to Paul Reiser where she says, ‘I don’t know which species is worse. At least they don’t fuck each other over for a percentage,” he said.
-Possibly might be released by next spring!
