Fantasy's laziest novelist sat his ass down with Chicago's PBS Station to admit that "looking back, I wish I'd stayed ahead of the books."

Regarding the difference between the show Game of Thrones and the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, he also said that, "I had a five book head start. And these are gigantic books, as you know. I never thought they would catch up with me, but they did. They caught up with me and passed me, and, you know, that made it a little strange - because now, the show was ahead of me, and the show was going in somewhat different directions."

He remained ambiguous about whether the books will have a different ending, but said that the final two books will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before being finished - as opposed to the six hours D&D spent on the final season of GOT.
