Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib made history today, when he announced to his 15,000+ Instagram followers that he is gay, becoming the first active NFL player to do so.

"What's up people," Nassib, 28, said in the video. "I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I'm gay. I've been meaning to do this for a while now but finally feel comfortable getting it off my chest."

Nassib also took the time to highlight the work of The Trevor Project, the number one suicide prevention service for LGBTQ youth, to which he has pledged to donate $100,000.
