As a refresher, DC Comics went full Ben Shapiro when the team behind the Harley Quinn animated series wanted to show Batman going down on Catwoman. "Heroes don't do that."

[So what does Zack Snyder think?]

My son asked me what Batman is doing. How do I explain this to him???!! He’s graduating high school tomorrow and he’s in shambles. Disgusting illustration and shame on you.

Maybe it's just because I've been steeped in the science world too long, but I just don't see the hang-up over sex anymore. It just seems like we associate so much shame with sex/nudity like it's something dirty and taboo, when it's just part of life. It just seems ... immature to not want to explain to a kid something that is literally going on all the time across species and is necessary for our survival? I mean, sure there are certain boundaries, consent, and personal privacy. It's like explaining death to a kid: it's you who's uncomfortable talking about it. And you somehow think explaining something you feel dirty/shameful talking about will somehow ruin the kid's innocence.

I think I would honestly feel more uncomfortable/awkward explaining climate change and its ramifications, violence like mass shootings, or societal systems of oppression. Because those ARE things we should be ashamed of but we let persist.

I'm with you. It really bothers me how people act like kids seeing incredibly graphic violent content - which is in these superhero movies and comics in spades - is totally fine, but consensual sex is completely inappropriate.

I hope my child never kills another person. I also hope my child has enjoyable, consensual sex when they are adults. These seem like pretty reasonable and standard expectations. So which content is really the most inappropriate???
