From what I’ve seen of Gen Z, they are pretty politically informed. So this seems very “hey fellow kids”, then Gen Z pulls out pics of him with Crenshaw and Cruz and say “shut up boomer”.
His political approach is about 40 years behind. Seeing “both sides” might have worked before Moscow Mitch got his vulture hooks into the senate. The days of trying to find a middle ground and compromise ended long ago, and no one seems to realize that. The R’s are fully intrenched in cult 45 that if he told them to build camps and round up “enemies” they would do it without a second thought. Meanwhile Chuck and Nancy would just twiddle their thumbs while they are being rounded up and expect the DOJ to do something about it.
Republicans being Republicans started a long time before Mitch. There was no value to seeing "both sides" in the '00s, '90s, '80s, or before, other than to satisfy American delusions and fantasies.
As disgruntledyawn said, both sides has always been bullshit. Unfortunately, it's been drilled into the skulls of many voters by establishment politicians who want to maintain the status quo. A both sides, down the middle approach has been popular with voters even when more 'radical' legislation that the public actually likes has been stalled because if it.

And they're finally going to have actual experts.
He sounded a little defensive.
