‘WandaVision,’ ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’ and ‘Loki’ Stars on Missing Tom Hiddleston’s Lectures and Who Texts Kevin Feige the Most https://t.co/WM6WH76Ywr - Variety (@Variety) June 9, 2021
I watched this last night. I enjoyed it but there were a few moments that felt really awkward to me. 😬
Mostly when Anthony Mackie wouldn’t let up on Tom Hiddleston’s Loki seminar and then Elizabeth Olsen kind of called him out. Also her comment on Anthony/Sebastian’s dynamic.
Yeah, some of it didn't flow very smoothly. Sebastian trying to ask Tom a question was pretty awkward too. Everyone kind of kept interrupting each other. You can tell Mackie was trying to be himself and joke around a lot like he does with Sebastian, but the others were more subdued. And Tom tells REALLY long stories. He really can't get to the point quick enough.
Lizzie mentioned she saw Tom in Betrayal before the pandemic so I guess they're on friendly terms now. I think they dated around 2015-2016. Anthony mentioned Kat Dennings on the call, who Tom also dated for a bit lol.
And I agree, I think Anthony is so used to being in a certain dynamic and it was clear in this call. I wonder if it would have been better if they'd all been in the same room. Virtual calls are always awkward. Sebastian was pretty quiet too - he mostly interacted off of Anthony.
Virtual calls suck especially because there can be delays and you don't always catch what the person is saying or you hear it a few seconds too late and then it's hard to comment on it because the moment passed.
When we have our virtual work socials, it's so awkward and half the people don't end up saying anything because you can really only have one conversation. In a real life setting, people break off and have smaller conversations. It can't be replicated in a virtual meeting unless you put people into break out rooms.
I find that video chats are really awkward if the participants aren't all on the same wavelength. Like, it's never awkward when I vidchat with my friends. or even certain coworkers, because despite us having different personality types, we vibe well. And, sometimes all you need to make things less awkward is one person to keep the conversation going.
There was but I don't think he could really reel in Anthony and some of the other dynamics were really awkward. Every time a conversation started to flow, it was suddenly scaled back and then felt quite stilted in parts. They only had about 40 minutes to ask questions about three different shows.
