If you were planning on watching the highly anticipated finale of Mare of Easttown on HBO Max last night, you were shit out of luck. The system appeared to fail from the volume of users attempting to log in. Users ran to Twitter to vent their grief while cable users laughed in glee. For many users, the system was down for up to two hours after the finale aired.
The crash seemed to have coincided with the episode’s release which led many on Twitter to think HBO Max’s infrastructure is not ready to stream content to millions of concurrent viewers. The same issue happened for the finale of the Nicole Kidman drama The Undoing.
THE UNDOING and MARE OF EASTTOWN both shutting down the service signals not only that people still care about episodic TV, but that actresses of a certain age are drawing in viewers who we should be paying attention to as much as we do the very loud snyder-cut truthers. https://t.co/cS3hrTm4Kc
