Oh lord here we go again.

Word spread a few days ago that Amazon was looking to purchase MGM and made the official announcement today. The deal is worth $8.45 billion.

Amazon will now own MGM's library -- one of the biggest in Hollywood -- consisting of over 4,000 films and 17,000 hours of television. It includes the coveted James Bond franchise, the upcoming House of Gucci, classic films like The Silence of the Lambs, Moonstruck, and Thelma & Louise and television titles like Fargo and The Handmaid's Tale.

Right now, it looks unlikely that MGM's film calendar for the year will change since the deal will take several months to close. Its also unclear if Epix will remain or whether television shows will be supplied to other networks in the future (like THT at Hulu).
