I'm a huge Toni Collette fan, but I feel like the main reason that movie got overlooked was because the ending really fell apart. It soured the experience for me afterwards and reeked of studios telling the director that nobody would get it unless you had Ann Dowd explicitly state every plot point off-camera before getting her head cut off.

Hahaha I enjoyed the ending but yeah it was certainly a... different turn from what I was expected based on what came before it. I remember thinking "WTF just happened?" after it was over.

also samara weaving in ready or not was one of my fave performances of the last few years period, she was so good and charming and really sold all the physical torment too

Yes 🙌 she was so good ! Ready or not has become one of my favorite current horror movies.
