An unknown would probably be the best option. Whoever they cast, I hope this will be more like Rocketman and less like Bohemian Rhapsody.

Rocketman was so underappreciated. The script is so well done and the entire cast killed it. You can go in completely blind to anything about Elton John and still come out loving the movie and the soundtrack, and that's how it should be.

I have yet to see it. I think I was disinterested because of how much of a dumpster fire Bohemian Rhapsody was.

Watch it! It's completely character driven with some wiggle room for a bit of unreliable narrator whimsy. I don't really rewatch films anymore but I've seen this one three times since it came out and it's criminal that Taron Egerton didn't win more awards for this. It's a really good stand-alone film.
