Hmmmm, I wonder why these talented women (38, 46, 38) would be taking on such roles...

Jessica Chastain and Lupita started their career in movies in their 30s and seems to be doing great, but I think they're the exception

WHAT!? All this time I thought Lupita was in her late 20s. Legit thought she was contemporary to Margot Robbie.

She's booked, so I'd say so.

So are they, but we're talking about quality movies. Wasn't she in the last X-Men movie?

I get what you mean, but I feel like roles like this for talented women is also just easy money. I wondered if these were contractual obligations or the actresses are trying to make a quick buck on easy ride of a movie.

Anne has been very open about the roles she is being presented now that she is approaching 40. Amy Adams has also talked about this, not sure about Emily. Women in general do not have as many opportunities for meaty roles, the amount definitely dwindles after they reach a certain age.

That's sad that they're not even exempt from it has oscar nominees/winners.

It's so pointless how actors get so wrapped up in the oscar race only for it to mean nothing in the end.

Yeah, it's definitely fucked up which is why it's good to see people like Regina King, Viola Davis, Reese Witherspoon, and Margo Robbie get into producing. Hopefully they will help produce more female driven media.

Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore, Glenn Close and Meryl Streep have just entered the chat.

Yes, getting good leading roles is not easy but it is also a choice.

Some of these roles (especially Amy Adams) are just failed Oscar bait. With a better director or script or something it could be a completely different story.
