I am really liking this season, and hope to get more of Rita and Canada. I'm imagining soooo much infuriating conflict between a very traumatized June, and all the people who have been living in Canada. I get the feeling she's only going to acknowledge one form of activism (violence/impulsive decisions), and be absolutely shitty toward the people caring for refugees, despite that being equally important.

Not spoilers, just theories (don't read if you haven't watched the most recent episode):

There's probably going to be a fight between her and Luke where he's hurt that she stayed, and she says something like, "yeah, to get Hannah out. Do you remember your daughter? Wtf have you been thing this whole time? Did you do anything to get her out?" He'd probably return with,"taking care of your child whom you had with another man." It's gonna be ugly.

If Janine lived and is captured, I can totally see Aunt Lydia saying something like, "June just left you alone. I never gave up on you."

What if Gilead makes an offer to June? She returns baby Nicole and they give her Hannah? Or if she testifies against Gilead, Hannah will find herself married as soon as possible.

I'm going to be so pissed if Janine is captured or dead.

There was a shot in the trailer of the Waterfords walking out of a building to praising fans so part of me wonders if they trade them for Hannah. That would be dumb though. There's still a war that needs to be won and other women/children who need to be freed.

I can imagine a deal being made: we don't take aggressive actions towards Canada if you ease up on sanctions, send us the Waterfords, and return children born in Gilead. Canada wants to avoid war, and Gilead could argue that Canada has no legal right to keep children who were taken from their birth parents. Gilead is totally going to "both sides" this, despite it being a rape, torture, murder cult. US citizens will put pressure on Canada to send back Gilead kids so they won't have to worry about Gilead coming for their kids.

I'm thinking about the Hannah/Nicole trade, and Gilead could want to trade because getting back "kidnapped baby Nicole" would be a huge victory for Gilead. They may tell her that they'll give her to Nick, but I dunno. June could want to, but Luke has for sure bonded with this baby, and neither would want a little girl raised in Gilead. The urgency of getting Hannah out to avoid being another Mrs. Keyes has to be incredibly stressful though.

I could see an argument being made sayinf Gilead needs to return the stolen children but can keep the ones born in Gilead that came about from handmaids but that’s still too gross for me to want to think about lol. I just want Gilead to fucking crash and burn already. Also, there’s no reason to get Nick out. He seems to be doing just fine (I’m not his biggest fan tbh lol).

I’d only see them making the trade for Hannah and to cool some tension (especially with Mrs. Waterford being pregnant). But as far as Gilead is concerned, June is a top level terrorist so idk.

With all the renaming I can see Gilead not returning even a quarter of the stolen children if they were put on the spot, they'd just lie through their teeth whose children these actually were and no one could go in and prove parentage via DNA test or anything. So yeah I'm with you, the place just needs to crash and burn and Nick can go down with it.

Maybe Canada could argue that Hannah has to be returned to her father, he never was in Gilead, though I doubt Gilead would care much but still.

The experience with Mrs. Keyes should be blasted loud and wide to ensure none of the children born in Gilead are returned there. I'm not sure if any of the kids on the plane was young enough to be born in Gilead, I think a lot of them were kidnapped kids like the little boy Rita visited, who just don't remember their birthparents much/anymore.

Yeah I am hoping for more Rita too, it will be interesting to see how the treatment of the Waterfords both by Canada and Rita will cause a reaction from June and how Rita deals with that/her.

Yeah that fight is inevitable, ngl I'm probably gonna side with Luke a bit more but have hopes that they can overcome this because if June is gonna end up with someone at the end of all this it better not be Nick but Luke.

Same and I do not want to see that. I was ready for Lydia to be miserable because they forced her into retirement but that didn't last too long sadly.

I don't think she will give back Nicole and there would be no claim from Gilead since Nicole is Junes daughter. Also what a slap in the face that would be for Luke and Moira who have been taking care of her and Emily who got her out of Gilead.

Now that the Waterford’s are going to have their own baby I don’t see why they should get to claim Nicole.

I can understand Luke’s hurt but June saw how bad things were and couldn’t bare to leave her daughter to that fate. I get that honestly. It’ll be so much harder to get to her from the outside.

Even if they weren't having their own baby, them claiming Nicole shouldn't be acknowledged by Canada considering June is her mother. I know right now it can't be proven because they can't DNA test anything but when June gets back they can to crush any claims from the Waterfords.

Oh I totally get June staying, I just won't be here for her asking him what he did to get Hannah out because we know that he had no way of actually doing that. As I said I hope they can work through their hurt and worry for their daughter and get her out together.

They way they are choosing to handle Rita is excellent honestly. The shot of her in the sunlight smiling over sushi was a delight
